For me, seeing the moon shining like this over the misty landscape before the sun rises is a festive start to the day. I am standing on the edge of the Second Dilling moor near Grolloo in May. Patches of fog hang low over the moor and there is no wind. This allows me to take a photo in this early blue hour with a shutter speed of 8 seconds and still capture a beautiful reflection in the water as well. The fog patches are also known as the 'white wolves' and are a familiar sight in this area.
Karla Leeftink prefers to photograph in the peace and quiet of early mornings with a hint of mysterious mist. The Drentsche-Aa region and the Reest valley are ideal for this with their frequently occurring misty landscapes. She also likes the wide open Wadden Sea landscapes and rough Norwegian fjord landscapes. Standing under the stars she is in her element and impressed by creation. In a frozen puddle and on knots of trees she spontaneously sees abstract works of art before her.
At her nature presentations she enthusiastically shares her nature experiences and lets others enjoy them with the help of her photo and video material. She has set up a line of cards with about a hundred cards, in which she has incorporated her own photos. She contributes photos to magazines and is author of the book "Reeën het jaar rond ".
