This artwork is an exciting mix of contrasts: a human skull, delicate flowers and a classic perculator come together against a powerful orange background. It immediately raises questions: is it a memento mori, a reminder of the transience of life? Or perhaps a playful ode to the daily rituals that give our lives meaning?
The grey flowers and leaves meander gracefully around the skull, as if bringing new life to what has disappeared. The perculator, symbolising the everyday pleasure of coffee, adds a surprisingly homely element to the whole. Everything comes together in a warm, mysterious atmosphere that both intrigues and inspires.
Perfect for lovers of symbolism, contrast and a touch of surrealism. Life, Death and Coffee is a real eye-catcher in any space: from a sleek modern interior to an artistic workplace. Let your guests dwell on the beauty of the moment - and perhaps feel like a good cup of coffee.
Mark Dingemanse (born 1989) is a self-taught artist from Zoutelande, where the sea is never far away.
Just a two-minute walk from the beach, he shares a life steeped in nature with his wife, dog, cat and three wayward chickens.
His paintings - oils, and his prints - digitally manipulated - are a fusion of the quiet rhythms of the coast and the vibrant inspiration of the old Dutch masters
Mark discovered his passion for painting two years ago, and since then he has been experimenting with still lifes, landscapes and new techniques that challenge him to go beyond the traditional.
Where others go to the beach to get a breath of fresh air, Mark takes the colours, shapes and stories of the coastline into his studio.
His works exude an atmosphere of tranquillity but also adventure, sometimes blurring the line between reality and fantasy.
Whether it is a classic still life inspired by Vermeer, a dynamic digital composition, or an abstract rendering of a Zeeland sunset, Mark's art invites the viewer to stand still, observe and feel. For just as nature is always evolving, so does his art.
