The statue of the Mermaid of Warsaw (Syrenka Warszawska) was created in 1939 by the sculptor Ludwika Nitschowa. It is a symbol of the capital and is located on the left bank of the Vistula River. The Swietokrzyski bridge is located on the left side. It is a 479 m long suspension bridge. The bridge was opened on 06 October 2000 for the traffic.
