This photo of a yellow rose I made in the garden. When I took the picture it had just rained, you can still see the drops on the flower. The rose was just opening, in the background you can see a flower bud of the same rosebush. I have used a flash to lighten the flower, you also get a black background. By the shadow in the flower you can see on which side the flash was. To use a flash I could keep the shutter speed short so I could take this photo freehand. I chose to shoot in portrait mode for this photo because it looks nicer. I don't know what kind of rose it is, but it is a species that does well in the Dutch climate. Every year several flowers appear on it.
Welcome to my shop. My name is Gerard de Zwaan and I was born in 1983 in the Veluwe town of Harderwijk, where I still live. I started photography in 2013. My first camera was a Nikon D3200 which I still own, currently I use a Nikon D7200. Every now and then I also use 1 or 2 Nikon SB700 reportage flash units to highlight a subject. From the beginning I mainly do nature photography, it is mainly landscapes I photograph, the Veluwe woods around Harderwijk being a perfect starting point for this. Occasionally I do macro photography and sometimes I photograph wildlife. Occasionally, I also do portraits of people, which can be commissioned or free work.
