A picture like a 17th-century painting. With a vast landscape characterised by an old gnarled pollard willow in the foreground. To the right behind this imposing tree is a second old pollard willow, whose branches seem to reach for the sky. a group of pied cows seem to be ruminating contentedly in the shelter of the willows. The cows seem at ease in the landscape. it seems that an approaching rain front is slowly shielding the warm summer sun n beginning to dissipate the heat of the day. As a result, the light in the painting changes from soft to darker and the colours become deeper and more intense. This picturesque landscape is a wonderful representation of the natural beauty and rustic charm of the Dutch river landscape along the river Lek.
