This photo is taken in a building that functioned as a hotel. Before it became a hotel, it was also a health resort, a rest home for children, a hospital and a brewery. The building was built about 200 years ago, and had a lot of different owners. In the 50's of the 20th century, the city bought the building and renovated it completely. Almost 15 years later they sold it. The last owner was a Russian, but unfortunately it is in heavy decay. The room as you see it here has been vandalised and sprayed with graffiti. The city is now looking and working with a new investor to bring the building back to life.
Roman Robroek is a photographer who captures forgotten places around the world. In particular, he is focused on creating stunning pho-tos of abandoned locations, rich with wonder, mystery and unanswered questions.
