About "Abandoned house in the Sicilian mountain village of Forza d'Agro"

by Silva Wischeropp

About the artwork

The village of Forza D'Agro was featured in the film "The Godfather". It is located around 40 minutes from Taormina and Messina. The mountain village has an incredible historical centre and picturesque views of the coast.

Forza d'Agro is a medieval village that towers high above Sicily's southern coast and exudes genuine Sicilian flair as well as the most breathtaking views.
Here, Italian grandfathers still sit and chat in the market square while their grandmothers buy cannoli in the small bakery.

And that was also the reason why Hollywood chose this place as the shooting location for the Godfather film.

Forza d'Argo is a village in Messina, which is located in the Italian region of Sicily.
The village with almost 1,000 inhabitants is located in the north-east of Sicily, Messina is 46 km north-east and Catania 60 km south of Forza d'Argo.

he journey to the small village is exciting in itself. The road winds its way up the mountain in steep hairpin bends.

In between, there is a beautiful view of the Castello Saraceno. Although it cannot be visited, it is dramatically perched on a rocky outcrop above the sea and makes for a beautiful photo opportunity.

The old village, which looks back on a long history, sits on a hilltop and offers its visitors endless views of the Sicilian coast.

This abandoned, mysterious facade of a medieval house was taken with the NIKON D90 ( lens: 85.0 mm f/1.8 ) on 27 March 2013 in the late afternoon hours.
