George Hendrik Breitner (Rotterdam, 12 September 1857- Amsterdam, 5 June 1923) was a Dutch painter, known for his depiction of Amsterdam city life. His work is related to that of the 'Tachtigers'; a group of artists with great influence on the Dutch art world during the eighties of the nineteenth century. Painters such as Willem Witsen and Geo Poggenbeek and poets such as Willem Kloos and Lodewijk van Deyssel belonged to his circle of friends.
For almost 33 years now, Paul Meijering has been active with the paint brushes. As a 17- year old inspired youngster he joined the Academy of Arts in Enschede (Holland) in order to receive a native training in drawing- and painting technique.
