Tulip bulbs flower before they are harvested. After flowering, the flowers are removed so that the bulbs remain. These bulbs are sold. This form of cultivation results in large, beautiful fields of colourful tulips, such as those in the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen polders, which are filled with fields of colourful tulip bulbs every spring.
