The artwork 'Timeline' in Slijk Ewijk is by artist Rob Scheere (Arnhem). The artwork, as the name suggests, forms a bridge between the past, present and future. On the spot where Timeline has come to stand, remains of a mammoth were found during excavations in 1972. This is proof that mammoths roamed here some 2.3 million years ago. Timeline incorporates eight large 5-meter mammoth teeth that rise from the water where visitors walk underneath. The skull and pelvis of the excavated mammoth are on display at a museum in Kleve.
Through the winding path across the water, you reach the cabin; a spherical observation tower with a view of the forest opposite. The cabin is 3 meters high and is made of steel. The sphere gives a horizontal and vertical panoramic view of the surroundings. You can also look straight at the water in the middle. About eight people can sit and enjoy the peace and nature around the artwork.
The photo was taken with a long shutter speed of over 2 minutes. This makes the water look calm and the clouds in the sky diffuse. Normally in the background you see the shoreline of the recreational lake and forests. In post-processing, I blended the water and sky together for a minimalist look and feel. This gives the whole image and somewhat unearthly look.
