About "BMW 502 Baroque angel"

About the artwork

The term Baroque Angel came about because of the strongly curved lines that are characteristic of the BMW 501/502 from every point of view. These curves were to be seen both in the steeply rising radiator grille with the probably largest, ever BMW kidney. This went in a huge, large curve into the hood, as well as in the at that time still laterally attached and ebenfals very large formed, here in particular the front fenders very well see. The front headlights, however, were already integrated into the fender. Chrome and trim on the outside of almost every part of the body, which was unique in the still young Federal Republic of Germany when the first sales brochure for the BMW 501 was published on April 30, 1951. However, the sales price was also unique, which kept the sales success in the newly founded republic from the beginning at a very low production level.

In addition, the BMW 501/502 became very well known through the television series "Funkstreife ISAR 12" or "Isar 12 - bitte kommen!" with the actors Karl Tischlinger, Wilmut Borell, Fritz Straßner.
