Beautiful lines in the red dunes of Sossusvlei, Namibia. The wind has free play in the valley. This creates beautiful lines and abstract patterns.
Sossusvlei is a clay valley in the middle of the Namib Desert. The valley is part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park in Namibia. Nourished by the Tsauchab River, the area is known for the high, red sand dunes that surround it and make it a great sea of sand. Vegetation, such as the acacia, is supplied with water by the Tsauchab's rare floods, which slowly fill up the soil. The red colour of the sand is caused by the high concentration of iron.
