"Beige taupe colours: Leaves curling along each other" is a macro photo of a set of leaves of a Bougainvillea (a plant that unfortunately cannot grow in the Netherlands because it cannot stand the cold). These leaves had fallen from the bush in Lanzarote and were already quite dried by the Spanish sun. As a result, the veins of the leaves are nicely visible. I took out the colours in this picture and made them more beige, to create a quieter atmosphere. This makes the work feel more rural.
Because the leaves are on a reflective surface and there is a texture in this surface, the mirror image has become somewhat painterly and abstract.
If you zoom in on the photo, you can see that I chose a small depth of field when taking this picture. Through it, a small part is in focus and everything in front and behind it gradually fades away. This gives a sense of depth in the photo, which I really like with these wavy leaves.
This piece could hang beautifully in the dining room, kitchen or just above the bed in the bedroom, for example!
