Bentley Special old N0 1 MKVI 1947 vintage race car in bright red
The Bentley Special Old No. 1 MKVI is a vintage race car with a rich history. The MKVI was a model produced by Bentley Motors Ltd. in the late 1940s. However, "Old No. 1" refers to a specific car that holds significance in Bentley's racing heritage.
The original "Old No. 1" was a Bentley Speed Six that competed in the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1929. It was driven by Woolf Barnato and Henry Birkin and won the race, solidifying Bentley's reputation for endurance and performance.
Later, in 1947, a Bentley enthusiast named Gurney Nutting built a special racing car based on the chassis of a Bentley Mark VI. This car was dubbed the Bentley Special Old No. 1 MKVI. It was designed to evoke the spirit of the original "Old No. 1" Speed Six and participated in vintage racing events, continuing the legacy of Bentley's racing heritage.
