As long as the heather is in bloom, I must and will go there, especially as I find that that one heather photo is not there yet this year. This time I decide to seek more space by going to the Strabrechtse heath again. The forecast is favourable; it cools down considerably at night and around sunrise there is a chance of some clouds. Arriving in plenty of time, I find one of my favourite locations. There is a nice layer of ground fog, but with all the trees there, I cannot immediately see a good composition. A few minutes and a cup of coffee later, I decide to look a little further along the path. Again, I had scouted suitable locations earlier. Alas, this part of the heath is completely in the mist and in such a small world it is not really possible to make a 'spatial' landscape photo. So back to the first location. With again not a cloud in the sky, there is not much else to do but use the colour gradient in the sky as a backdrop. With some trial and error, I eventually find these compositions where the birches represent the colouring sky.
