The great black-backed gull is a colossal bird: it is the largest gull in the world.
It is most common along the coast of Iceland, Norway and the British Isles.
In the Netherlands, this giant black-backed gull is also widely observed and it has also been breeding here annually since 1993.
Large gull with black wings and yellow bill.
Larger than the lesser black-backed gull in everything: a larger head, heavier beak, thicker neck and broader wings. Even when flying, it looks heavy and sturdy.
Also distinguishable by its legs.
These are pale pink and not yellow like the lesser black-backed gull.
Photography is my biggest hobby/passion....
I photograph various subjects such as;
People/buildings/animals/flowers/holiday countries.
I am always looking for that special moment or building and make a nice composition of it.
