The black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa) is a meadow bird of the family beach runners and snipes (Scolopacidae) of the order waders (Charadriiformes). The black-tailed godwit was a common meadow bird in the 20th century, but has been declining rapidly since the turn of the century due to loss of habitat. In 2015 the bird was chosen as the national bird species of the Netherlands.
