Can you believe I didn't eat blood orange until I came to live in Italy? I asked for an orange juice in a bar and this glass of bright red liquid appeared before me. I tried it and realised it was delicious! Although they are called 'sanguinello' here in Italy, the variety that is grown is actually called 'taroco' which is a variant of the sanguinello. The flavour is clean, slightly sweet and with a hint of raspberry. It is thought blood oranges may have originated in China. Photo art.
