On a sunny day, it is wonderful to stand at the shore of Lago Trasimeno in Umbria, Italy and look at all the wildlife and boat activity. The lake is the largest lake in Central Italy. There are many towns and villages around the edge of the lake, including Sant Arcangelo.
Sant Arcangelo can be quite busy during tourist season as there are several tourist accommodation camps near the shoreline. Outside of tourist season, you might bump into a few fishermen, particularly pole and rod fishing on the pier but otherwise you can enjoy the peace and beauty. There is an abundance of bird life on the lake.
This is a wonderfully evocative image of wooden boat dock pilings at the dock at Sant Arcangelo by the shore of Lago Trasimeno. The gnarled wooden pilings have a wonderful surface, weathered by age, and these contrast with the strong metal chains looped around them. Rusty metal steps up to the dock can be seen to the left of the picture, and, at the back of the shot, in the distance, the shore with trees and shrubs can be seen at the curve in the lake.
This is my own photograph, worked on digitally and given an artistic effect.
