It is a hot summer day in Umbria, Italy and a couple on vacation go boating on Lago Trasimeno, the largest lake in Central Italy. A heat haze hides the landscape beyond, though you can just make out the vague shape of the hills and villages. The lake is a gorgeous blue (reflecting the color of the sky) as the boat sales past the old wooden boat piles at the lake edge.
Lago Trasimeno is a very popular attraction all year round. The towns and villages on the lakeside swarm with tourists during the high season but equally Italians flock there, particularly at weekends. There are several places where you can walk along the edge of the lake. Many of the towns have restaurants and bars at the lakeside, offering dishes containing locally caught lake fish.
But there are several harbours in these towns and as well as the daily fishing boats that go out on the lake, when the weather is nice yachts and pleasure boats can be seen.
This is my own photograph, worked on digitally and given an artistic effect.
