Bumper cars at an abandoned fair in Pripyat near Chernobyl. The nuclear disaster in 1984 with reactor number 4 in Chernobyl meant that the city of 40,000 inhabitants had to be evacuated. This image was photographed with an infrared sensor at a wavelength of 550 nanometres, giving everything that lives an almost radioactive red glow. The camera has been converted so that the chip only sees light in that wavelength.

When I was about 20 years old I wondered about the big posters in the bus shelters (abri's). I want to be able to make this too! So big, so sharp, so beautiful light, the perfection! That's how it started and after 8 years working as an assistant photographer in fashion and advertising photography I could slowly start making my own productions. Now for more than 20 years I have made numerous series, done shoots at home and abroad. I have been making infrared series since 2018 and they show me a new world. A world that surprises, amazes, a world of hidden beauty!
