This is a view of Butler's Wharf in London, UK, with the photograph, on which this photo art image is based, taken from a viewpoint on Tower Bridge. It is in the Shad Thames area.
We look out over the River Thames towards the famous converted warehouse building with it's wonderful array of architecture that dominates the side of the river at this point. Before it was converted into luxury apartments, this was actually the largest tea warehouse in the world at one stage. Built between 1865-73 as a shipping wharf and warehouse complex, it was originally a chocolate biscuit factory.
During the 1970's, this building was home to artisan workshops and artist studios.
The building features glorious architecture and is Grade II listed. It has retained the original linking walkways between buildings over which cargo would move after docking in front of the building.
This image won a Special Merit Award in the 'CityScapes' on-line exhibition organised by the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery.
