A long time ago when reading Queen Noor of Jordan's book, I decided to one day visit the desert Wadi Rum that she described in her book. In 2019 I visited the country and I found the desert so beautiful. Jordan is mostly known for Petra but there it is so crowded with tourists and you can see the donkeys suffer from the tourists weighing way too much for these little animals.
For me, Wadi Rum was much more interesting; at least if you like peace and you don't mind being out of reach for a while. You can trek through it by jeep or camel but we also loved walking through it and staying near the tent. The red of the desert is so beautiful. In the evening you eat together in the big tent. A real experience the Wadi Rum desert.
Instead of hiring a camel to ride myself, I hired this camel herder with his camel to model for me. I remember the sun giving this beautiful effect behind the large cloud in the background. My image was ready and I was, very rarely, really satisfied. It now hangs large on aluminum in our living room and this image is the most viewed of my photos here.
