Carel Fabritius, a talented Dutch painter from the 17th century, is transported to the present and now finds himself facing an old marl wall. As he stands there, I admire his unique appearance and the way he relates to his surroundings.
Carel Fabritius, dressed in a traditional painter's costume, wears a beautiful black cape that gently flaps in the wind. His face is imbued with creativity and curiosity, his eyes shining with a sparkling intensity. His hair falls in lush, wavy locks along his shoulders, adding to his distinctive look.
As Fabritius stands there, he admires the old marl wall in front of him. This wall, worn by the ravages of time, bears the marks of centuries of history and stories. The soft, chalky stone forms a beautiful contrast to Fabritius's colourful appearance.
With a brush and palette in his hands, it seems as if Fabritius is ready at any moment to create a masterpiece on canvas. He studies the texture and hues of the marlstone, while his thoughts wander to the possibilities offered by this inspiring environment.
The ancient marl wall is a symbol of the timeless beauty Fabritius captured during his lifetime. It reminds us of the power of art to immortalise the past and make us reflect on the transience of human existence.
As I look at Fabritius, I feel a mixture of admiration and wonder. It is an encounter between a genius of the past and the contemporary world. It reminds me how art bridges times and generations, and how it allows us to experience the beauty of the past in the present.
It all started with a4 paper and HB pencils. As a child I was often impressed by how beautiful the world around me was. The urge to capture this beautiful world, and to show the people around me what I saw, was actually there from the beginning. If I remember correctly, I was about eleven years old when I first met the camera. Of course it was a simple compact camera with a ridiculous quality, but I enjoyed it.
I sometimes said I wanted to be a photographer, but of course you have one of the two parents who says, "Dream on." Strangely enough, I followed the sarcastic remark as advice, and still went to study photography.
