Hoofdstation, the central station of Groningen, Netherlands.
My roots are in Groningen, and I love the city and its station, which the Groningen people affectionately call "Hoofdstation". I have a lot of footsteps lying there!
I made these photos as a free series for my exam in 2016 at the School for Photography in Breda.
The Groningen main station, with renaissance and Gothic style elements, is a design by the Dutch architect Isaac Gosschalk and was completed in 1896. It is one of the most beautiful station buildings in the Netherlands. Nowadays the building is a striking mix of past and present thanks to the changes to the station square. The undulating square, where Peerd van Ome Loeks finds no grass to graze anymore, forms the roof of the huge bicycle shed.
I love this station with its characteristic, industrial looking steel platform covers and the breathtakingly beautiful station hall, with its stunning ornamental ceiling of paper collé, where you hear the chattering sound of the old, automatic doors with their beautiful glass-in lead windows.
I hope you are also touched by the characteristic beauty of this station and that one or more of these works find their way into your home!
How nice that you're having a look in my shop! That means that you are interested in my work, and that makes me very happy! Let me introduce myself to you.
I'm spontaneous and creative, married, mother of a beautiful daughter and grandmother of two treasures of grandchildren. And ... I am an enthusiastic and passionate photographer. From the moment I first looked at the world through the lens of a camera, as a teenage girl, my love of photography was born. That love has never passed, and since a few years I have been fortunate to be able to work as a professional photographer. My work mainly consists of making reports, portraits and business photography for websites of institutions and companies. For my free work I like to search for nature, or a beautiful city. Industrial heritage and architecture let my heart beat faster. Abstract photography stimulates my creativity. And I love photographing people. I like to observe. Discovering who's there, deeply hidden behind a face and catching the soul of a person in a picture is one of the most beautiful things there is for me. I look for dramatic light, contrasts. I see beauty in perfection, but also in decline. Authenticity, purity and passion touch me. You can find images of this in my shop. And I would love it if you are so touched by one of these images that you want it on your wall to look at it again and again! Love, Klaske
