Colourful sandstone mountains in Goblin Valley. Millions of years of wind have carefully shaped these mountains.
One of the most popular slot canyons in Utah, the Little Wild Horse Trail is located in the San Rafael Swell area, close to Goblin Valley State Park. This trail is known for its impressive sandstone walls, narrow passages and accessible route, making it a favourite for both novice and experienced hikers.
The Little Wild Horse Trail is an approximately 13-kilometre round-trip hike that is often combined with the adjacent Bell Canyon Trail. Together they form a beautiful loop that leads hikers through a varied landscape of narrow slot canyons, open desert plains and colourful sandstone formations. The highlights of the trail are the narrow passages, where the canyon walls are sometimes only a few metres or even centimetres apart.
The hike is generally considered easy to moderate, with a few spots where hikers have to scramble over boulders or navigate through narrow passages. It is suitable for families, although parents with small children should exercise caution
The Little Wild Horse Trail offers a spectacular and accessible opportunity to experience the beauty and adventure of Utah's slot canyons.
