I have always been interested in spiritual matters and have been a Buddhist for many years. Compassion is one of the central tenets of the Buddhist faith. that is compassion for yourself as well as others.
Avalokiteshvara is an enlightened being that embodies the compassion all of the Buddhas. The mantra for Avalokiteshvara is probably the best known of the Buddhist mantras 'Om Mani Padme Hum'. A mantra is a form of training for the the mind that involves focusing on a group of sounds or words and repeating them silently over and over. This can lead to a deep meditation.
The version of Avalokiteshvara shown in this photo art image is a four armed form but there is also a thousand armed form. We see that the central arms hold the jewel of compassion. The outer arms hold a rosary and a lotus flower as offerings to the world. I have created rays emanating from the center, suggestive of compassion being spread all over the world.
