I, Petra Lorch, like to confess to the art of abstraction, because the medium of the canvas, as well as the acrylic colours I mainly use, offer a creative space for subjective forms of expression of all kinds.
The colour for itself is for me the most expressive means, in order not to let the surfaces designed with it appear isolated, but always to create an interplay with the set colours.
I have developed an abstract - expressive technique in multi-layered painting and projected it onto the pictures. My paintings are compositions consisting of color, contrasts, lines and geometric shapes. By means of the strong structure I try not only to achieve plasticity in my pictures, but to produce a constantly changing interpretation by means of the colour. The clarity, intensity and liveliness of the colours are reflected in the paintings. The paintings are characterized by intense luminosity and vividness of the color forms.
