Umbria in Italy is also known as the Green Heart of Italy owing to the mild climate which is conducive to growing all manner of crops. Field crops include tobacco and sunflowers as well as all manner of grain and pulses. Olive trees are in abundance of course, Umbria is a huge producer of olive oil even if it doesn't get as much press coverage as neighboring Tuscany. But Umbria is also known for its wine!
Here we see a field full of grapevines in neat rows running vertically up a hillside field. The vines are fully grown and about a month away from picking. In front of the vines is a field of crops and in summer, as here, the crops are golden brown and ready for harvest. On the horizon there is a forest of trees, mainly cypresses a common sight in Umbria. There is something very pleasing about the rows of vines and their shade of green compared with the darker green of the cypresses and the golden countryside.
This is my own photograph, worked on digitally and given an artistic effect.
