Deadvlei in Sossusvlei, in Naukluft national park in Namibia. Deadvlei is a "forest" of dead Acacia trees that once grew in the water what gathered above this salty clay plain. Until the climate changed and the plain dried out. The remaining skeletons of the trees, believed to be about 900 years old, have been blackened by the sun. Although they are not petrified, they do not decay because it is too dry. All in all, a bizarrely surreal place and also bloody hot!
