Deadvlei is a magnificent landscape hidden between enormous sand dunes in the Namib desert. From the car park, you walk between or on the high dunes, until suddenly the white clay pan appears with all sorts of blackened trees. The contrast with the orange dunes and blue sky makes for a beautiful picture.
The clay pan was formed long time ago after rainfall, when the river flooded. Temporary shallow pools allowed low vegetation and camel thorn trees. But when climate changed, drought hit the area and the trees died, making it so intriguing today. The remaining skeletons of the trees are blackened by the sun and make the landscape so intriguing.
Maybe it is still on your wishlist, you have also been there before or you just love the colours. Either way, it is a beautiful eye-catcher in any interior.
