Created to look like a vintage photograph, this is a view of Nyhavn Harbor in Copenhagen, Denmark. I was there in December and the lighting is very interesting as the sun only rises so far in the sky and sets early. Followers of my work will know my fascination for contrasting light and shade and this was a great opportunity to explore the effects I could get with that.
Nyhavn Harbor in Copenhagen is picturesque and actually very colorful which I have captured in some of my other images. In this low color photograph, I was trying to capture the different shapes of the houses, roof lines, ship masts etc as well as the busyness of the place as a bustling harbor with tourists, cafes, shops and the moored vessels.
Moored in the harbor at one end are various historic boats which adds to the feeling of being lost in time. It is easy to imagine people moving backwards and forwards alongside the edge of the harbor in times past, much the same as they do today.
