Among the endless sands of the Namib Desert lurks a small but fascinating animal: the desert chameleon. With its scaly skin, skittish gaze and ability to change colour, it is a true survivor in one of the most inhospitable environments on earth.
At dawn, it treks through the warm sand, scavenging for insects and small prey. Its large eyes move independently, always alert to danger. When he feels threatened, he can not only change colour to blend into his surroundings, but also inflate his body to appear bigger and more impressive.
This photo captures the unique beauty of the desert chameleon - a small but wondrous animal perfectly adapted to life in the endless emptiness of the desert.
