The minimalist pop art work "Desire" playfully and poetically captures the essence of desire: that which you can almost touch, but remains just out of reach.
Within the thick black frame stands a simple, stylised figure - slightly hunched over, staring at a red heart dangling from the ceiling on a thin thread. The heart hangs seductively, but unreachably - as if balancing between hope and frustration. The figure seems curious, perhaps yearning, but also a little helpless.
The composition is deliberately left empty: the white space emphasises the distance between the figure and the object of desire. The only colour accent - the red heart - immediately draws the eye and underlines the emotional charge of the work.
