The plague bird (Bombycilla garrulus) is a songbird in the family of plague birds (Bombycillidae). The bird has the size of a thrush, and striking colors. The name "plague bird" dates back to the Middle Ages, when these birds were thought to carry the plague and spread the disease. The plague bird is a thrush-like bird with salmon pink color, and yellow stripes on its wings. The head carries a large crest and a black mask and throat. The anal region is reddish brown with a yellow terminal band on the tail. Despite its striking appearance, it is often overlooked because it prefers to live high in the trees. The plague bird is about 17 cm long.
