A starting Douglas DC-3. The DC-3 is an aircraft manufactured by the American Douglas Aircraft Company. From 1935 on 10,655 examples were built, plus 4,937 pieces under license. The aircraft is still used for commercial flights in the 21st century. The DC-3 was developed from the DC-2. In the United States there was a demand for an aircraft in which passengers could sleep, so that transcontinental flights were possible.
Kris Christiaens is a professional aviation photographer who always tries to portray the power, manoeuvrability and history of aircraft and helicopters in the most original and impressive way possible.
