The Binnenhof in The Hague is one of the most recognisable places in the Netherlands, and during the blue hour, this place takes on something magical. In this photo, you can see how the historic buildings mirror themselves in the Hofvijver, while the soft evening light and fountain bring a sense of tranquillity and elegance. My inspiration for this picture came from the contrast between the stately architecture of the Binnenhof and the modern high-rises behind it. The long shutter speed effect makes the water mirror-smooth and adds depth to the lights. The blue hour creates a mysterious atmosphere in which the city shows its best side. It is a place full of stories, history and a touch of grandeur.
