These snow-cats have been on several expeditions in the 60's on Antarctica. It was a permission visit and the caretaker of the garage was actually family (I believe it was the son) of the expedition leader who drove these vehicles around on Antarctica. He told me several stories with so much passion and love. I feel very lucky to have been able to see these vehicles and listen to the lovely history of them from first-hand.
Unfortunately a few days after I visited the garage thieves / vandals cut out the logo's of the vehicles. They were drawn by the same artist that drew the famous Tin Tin comics (Hergé). The man and his family was devastated. I visited the garage in 2013 and they are still looking for the people responsible for this brutal theft.
Roman Robroek is a photographer who captures forgotten places around the world. In particular, he is focused on creating stunning pho-tos of abandoned locations, rich with wonder, mystery and unanswered questions.
