In this image, festival (festa) season is in full swing in Paciano, Umbria, Italy which is my home town. The main street into the town is festooned with different colored umbrellas that catch the light. As the sunlight pours down onto them, the colors are reflected onto the old stone walls of the traditional buildings lining the street. The shadows of the umbrella appear on the flagstones.
This is a lovely way to enter the medieval walled village of Paciano. Entry is through one of the main archways through the wall and then you are greeted with this wonderful sight.
Though small (about 1,000 inhabitants) Paciano is a very picturesque village. Actually, it is on the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, something the locals are very proud of. Surrounded by olive groves, the village is very social and holds many social events throughout the year including local competitions, concerts, dinners and exhibitions.
This is my own photograph, worked on digitally and given an artistic effect.
