Fine art portrait "Berber" The Berbers, who call themselves Amazigh (meaning 'free man'), are the original inhabitants of Morocco. Moroccan Arabs are descended from the Arab conquerors who first entered Morocco in the seventh century and from the Arab Muslims expelled from Spain in the 15th century. Berbers live in tribes and each tribe thus has its own social structure and rules.
