Digital work "Flowers in the burning sun.
This digitally produced work is an amalgamation of a structure of Himalayan lamp and casually drawn flowers. The layers, with other colorful layers with brush strokes and text are fused together to create this colorful work.
The intensely warm colors of this work give me the impression of a flower meadow in the setting sun, reflecting the title of the work.
The text in binary code is a nod to digital art, as I enjoy using digital tools.
I created this work, with several others, out of my need to add more life and color to my images.
I use homemade photographs of structures I encounter everywhere as well as my (one-)line drawings.
The details in this work give you reason to see something new every time. You don't get bored of it.
The contrast of the lines and the colors make it speak and exciting.
My work is inspired by nature, flowers and plants, all the beauty Mother Earth gives us. My personal tribute! Let's be careful with all that beauty, and use it with respect and love, nature can do very well without us, we not without nature
Has it ever been different?
I was always drawing ー as early as primary school, the margin of my notebooks was full of scribbles that didn't have much to do with what was supposed to be there. A lot of nature, especially flora.
The older I got, the more impressed I became with nature: the blooms, the awe-inspiring beauty, the details of flora.
I kept drawing that in everything I did. On paper, digitally, more or less minimalist and sometimes abstract. The playful minimalism and harmony of line drawings fit me like a warm coat. The rendering of transparency and contrasts clarify the essence of the subject and create a calm image. Sleek and sober with sometimes a fresh accent, that's what I love.
My work was used several times in the television programme 'VT-Wonen, fall in love with your house again'. In the coffee book of 'Werk aan de muur', an anniversary edition published in 2022, a page was dedicated to my work.
