The Iceland poppy (Papaver nudicaule), also known as the naked-stemmed poppy, is a plant species from the poppy genus (Papaver) within the poppy family (Papaveraceae). This poppy species, which is native to the subarctic regions, flowers in colours ranging from light yellow, white and orange-yellow to red, depending on the subspecies. As an ornamental plant, there are varieties not only in the natural colours and shapes, but also as cultivars in various variations. The Iceland poppy grows as an annual to perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 10 to 50 centimetres, depending on the climate. The basal pinnately lobed leaves are up to 20 centimetres long, bluish green with greyish hairs and have several three-lobed segments.
Amateur photographer with advanced knowledge, retired for 6 years. Made my first experiences with photography as an employee at CANON and now, after many stations, take photos digitally with the Pentax K1 MK II and various lenses. My main focus is difficult to define. Actually everything that comes in front of my lens and doesn't look like a snapshot. I always try to tell a little story with my pictures or at least to get the viewer's imagination going.
