A memorable morning at the Lispach lake in the Vosges, France. I love these scenes where the fog rolls in through the tree tops, sometimes hiding or showing their silhouettes. Every second offers a different scene and I could spend hours capturing them. At that moment, a ray of sunlight breaking through the clouds adds another dynamic to the scene.
My name is Julien Beyrath, hunter of the ephemeral. I was born in Alsace (France) and currently live in the Netherlands.
As far back as I can remember in my childhood, I have always been positively affected by the contact with the wilderness, even more so when I met the wildlife. Somewhere along the way I lost this contact with nature. Nevertheless, starting photography was a trigger and a motivation for me to dive back into it, to reconnect and relive those childhood emotions. Whether it's a unique light on the landscape or a specific behavior of a wild animal, chasing and capturing those fleeting moments is exciting, fulfilling and therapeutic. My photographs are not intended to represent reality as we see it but as a timeless and artistic representation of an emotion felt in the midst of what we all need most, nature.
The wonder of nature brings me a lot of positivity and awareness of our interaction with our world. It is part of my life balance. Seeing photos of nature on my walls is what keeps me in awe when I'm not in the field. Photographic representation of nature has been shown to relieve mental stress or simply help one relax. It is now used for example in hospital environments such as maternity wards. Therefore, bringing nature photography into your living space is more than just decorative!
