The Ford GT, which was produced from 2017 to 2023, is a new edition of the legendary sports car that was originally developed in the 1960s to break Ferrari's dominance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The modern version of the Ford GT was developed with the aim of delivering outstanding performance both on the road and in motorsport.
### Design and technology
The 2017 Ford GT is characterised by an aerodynamic design inspired by racing technology. It has a 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost engine that delivers over 600 hp and is combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The body is largely made of carbon fibre, which reduces weight and improves performance. The vehicle offers impressive acceleration and a high top speed, making it one of the most powerful sports cars of its time.
### Motorsport successes
The Ford GT has proven to be extremely successful in motorsport, particularly in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the USA and in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in Europe.
