Vlak over de grens bij Maastricht ligt de Belgische plaats Luik. Een stad die vele urbex locaties telt waaronder het in 1817 gebouwde Fort Chartreuse. Fort de la chartreuse werd gebouwd door Nederlanders en kwam in 1830 in handen van de Belgen. Het fort heeft een goede strategische ligging en is in de eerste en tweede wereldoorlog flink onder vuur genomen door de Duitse soldaten. Gedurende de tweede wereldoorlog hebben de duitsers dit leegstaande fort gebruikt als gevangenis. Sinds 1980 is het fort leegkomen te staan en sindsdien heeft de natuur het overgenomen.
