Centuries old oak trees in sunlit winter wonderland scene with hoarfrost covering the small branches
These oak trees are ancient and there used to be many more of these in this forest. I have seen most of them succumb during my lifetime and every time one of them falls is a goodbye to one of my memories. I decided to photograph the trees from my childhood, those that I have know all my life and who were already very old when I was still a toddler. Who were the characters of tales told in the village and about whom stories were told amongst family and friends. I don't want these trees to be forgotten because old trees are so incredibly important to this planet. They have lived this long because they have the strongest genes and as long as they live, they help the planet in numerous ways.
