Ganesh the Elephant God is probably the best known of the Hindu deities. He is the great remover of obstacles but is also the patron of arts and sciences, known for intellect and wisdom. Of course he is easy to identify because of his elephant head.
I first came across Ganesh during a visit to Bali in Indonesia. We had trekked quite a way to visit a ruined temple on the edge of a rain forest. I remember I tripped over a monitor lizard that ran across the path in front me of me.
We were greeted by the temple guardian, an old lady with a kindly face and a flower in her hair in Balinese tradition. Through our interpreter she said she was going to take us to see 'Ganesha' . And she introduced us to this large carved stone statue depicting Ganesh.
With this photo art image, I have worked with a wooden statue of Ganesh and worked with colors, tone and light to get across the spiritual aspect.
