Kolmanskop is a ghost town in the Namib desert in the south of Namibia, inland from the port of Lüderitz it is 10 kilometers. Sandstorms have taken over the city. The sand has been blown up meters high in the houses. By 1950 Kolmanskop was completely abandoned and fell prey to the desert sand. Slowly the buildings are filled with sand.
It is a desolate place, a small settlement, and was a very rich mining village. It is now a popular photogenic tourist destination.
