A giraffe photographed up close gives you a penetrating and questioning look, but also a bit silly. When I took this photo in an everyday zoo in the Netherlands (Emmen, Wildlands) I was the only ones on safari train with my daughters at the end of the day. I had installed my zoom lens (300mm) when I was totally surprised by this light-footed giraffe. Fortunately, I was able to quickly take a photo that was sharp and balanced.
The special feature of a giraffe's head are its large eyes and angular shapes. It also has a very fine and small head compared to its body. Because of the angular shapes of a giraffe's head, this composition seemed to me to be suitable for a photo that radiated balance and balance as well as a touch of mischief and naiveté.
