A girl sits at a table at a café, drinking a pink drink. She is wearing a pretty, summer dress with a graphic pattern and blue tiles can be seen in the background. Her dress and the bench are the yellow accents in this work.
One wonders what the girl is thinking about as she plays with the straw in her drink. Is she waiting for someone, missing someone, making plans for her summer holidays or is she just daydreaming a bit?
The work has a summer atmosphere, but the graphic aspect gives peace to the eye.
This is a collage where I used homemade, graphic patterns. They are hand-drawn, which gives them a cheerful vibrancy. The surfaces are built up in layers, which gives the work an extra dimension. The style is reminiscent of advertising posters of the past.
Because it has a graphic aspect, it would fit nicely into a modern interior. It also brings the necessary 'pop of colour' in an interior that is monochrome or neutral in colour. People who like 60s and 70s illustration and graphic design will also recognise themselves in this work.
Created by Karolina Grenczyk.
My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.
Besides my children's book 'Emilie and the Bear' I also like to make illustrations based on what I see in the city: people in the park for example. The corona crisis has also influenced my work.
You can often spot me drawing in the park, in a café or on the beach.
